Dr. Michael Li is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the Department of Economics and Finance, La Trobe University. He joined in February 2008, transitioning from a career as an engineer and division manager in the construction industry. His research focuses on corporate finance, asset pricing, international finance, and fintech, with additional interests in behavioral finance and corporate governance.
Dr. Li holds a PhD from Melbourne University, a Master of Management (Massey University), a Master of Commerce (University of Auckland), and a Bachelor of Engineering (Tsinghua University). He supervises Master’s and PhD students in finance-related research.
His research explores themes such as regulatory sandboxes, fintech innovation impacts, investor behavior, and corporate governance. Recent work includes studies on China’s financial policies, digital economy dynamics, and insider trading effects. His publications span top journals like Applied Economics and International Review of Financial Analysis.
Teaching interests include undergraduate and postgraduate courses on finance fundamentals, debt and derivative securities, and corporate finance principles. He advises students on research topics aligned with his expertise in financial markets and corporate strategy.
