Michael Laiosa

Dr. Michael Laiosa is an Associate Professor and Faculty Chair at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, affiliated with the College of Health Sciences and Department of Environmental Health Sciences. He holds a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from SUNY Upstate Medical University and a BS in Biochemistry from SUNY at Geneseo.

Research Interests focus on the impact of developmental exposure to environmental contaminants like dioxins on hematopoietic stem cells and long-term immune system health. His work bridges mechanistic toxicology with public health, particularly addressing disparities in urban communities.

Teaching: Courses include PH 703 (Environmental Health Sciences), PH 819 (Social and Environmental Justice), and PH 821 (Advanced Survey of Environmental and Occupational Health).
