Michael Kyba

Michael Kyba serves as a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota Medical School, with deep integration across multiple research institutes including the Lillehei Heart Institute, Stem Cell Institute, and Microbiology, Immunology and Cancer Biology (MICaB) graduate program.

His research spans critical areas in regenerative medicine and oncology, with primary focus on:

• Stem cell differentiation mechanisms
• Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
• Cellular immunotherapy development
• Tumor microenvironment interactions
• Developmental hematopoiesis
• Gene therapy applications

Dr. Kyba maintains active laboratory operations within the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplantation & Cellular Therapy division, while directing graduate education through the PhD Program in Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology and Genetics and the Masters Program in Stem Cell Biology. His work bridges clinical translation with fundamental stem cell research, particularly in pediatric malignancies and regenerative applications.
