Prof. Dr. Dr. hc Michael Kubiciel holds the Chair of German, European and International Criminal Law at the University of Augsburg's Faculty of Law. He serves as Dean of Studies and Managing Director of the Institute for Criminal Law. His research spans criminal law theory, commercial criminal law, medical criminal law, anti-corruption policy, and international criminal law. Prof. Kubiciel leads the Research Center for Corporate Criminal Law and has advised international institutions including the UNODC, OECD, and European Commission.
His research focuses on:
- Fundamentals of criminal law and constitutional criminal law
- Corporate sanctions legislation (GDPR, GWB, LkSG)
- International anti-corruption frameworks
- Medical criminal law reform
- Sports law in international contexts
Professor Kubiciel actively mentors students through moot court competitions, supervising Augsburg teams in national competitions where they achieved second place in the 2025 Bundesweiter Moot Court. He has received appointments to international advisory committees including the International Anti-Corruption Court drafting initiative. His teaching includes specialized seminars on corruption law, medical criminal law, and constitutional aspects of criminal justice.
