Michael Krieger

Michael Krieger is a senior scientist at the Chair for Applied Physics within the Department of Physics at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), a position he has held since 2007. He is an active member of the FAU Profile Center Light.Matter.QuantumTechnologies (LMQ) and was elected to the LMQ Executive Board on November 22, 2024.

His research focuses on quantum technologies and light-matter interactions through the FAU LMQ initiative. He contributes to research infrastructure development, notably co-creating the open-source NOMAD CAMELS software for generating FAIR-compliant (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) research data. His work bridges applied physics with data science methodologies to advance quantum technology research frameworks.

Dr. Krieger collaborates extensively across FAU's Faculty of Sciences and Faculty of Engineering, working with departments including Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy, and Chemical and Biological Engineering. His role in the LMQ Executive Board positions him to shape interdisciplinary quantum research strategies and foster institutional partnerships in light-matter-quantum systems development.
