معرفی
Kai Phillip Schmidt serves as Visiting Professor and Chair holder of Theoretical Physics V at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Sciences, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU). He concurrently leads as speaker of the FAU Profile Center Light.Matter.QuantumTechnologies (LMQ), directing interdisciplinary initiatives in quantum science and technology development.
Prof. Schmidt's research centers on quantum physics and theoretical condensed matter systems, with specialized focus on light-matter interactions in correlated quantum systems. His work examines how matter-matter couplings influence emergent phenomena in macroscopic light-matter systems, particularly under small light-matter couplings where low-energy physics remains unaffected. This research bridges fundamental quantum theory with practical applications in quantum sensing and information processing.
His recent publications demonstrate consistent emphasis on numerical modeling of quantum systems and theoretical frameworks for light-matter coupling, with growing attention to quantum encryption applications and chiral molecule detection methodologies. The work shows strong alignment with quantum technology development and condensed matter theory.
Scientific recognition includes:
- Teaching Award 2024 from FAU's Faculty of Sciences, nominated by physics students
As LMQ speaker, Prof. Schmidt coordinates major collaborative efforts including the QuCoLiMa research training group and public engagement initiatives like the "Modern physics on Saturday morning" lecture series. He actively organizes workshops such as the FAU LMQ internal meeting at Villa Jordan, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration between physicists, engineers, and materials scientists in quantum technology development.
