معرفی
Michael Kessler is a Senior Lecturer in Systematic and Evolutionary Botany at the University of Zurich. His research spans biodiversity patterns, fern evolution, plant-genome interactions, and conservation biology, with a focus on ferns, Polylepis trees, and Andean ecosystems.
- Education: PhD (1995), Habilitation (2001) at Georg-August-University Göttingen.
- Research areas: Macroecology, plant physiology, genomics, mycorrhizal coevolution, and tropical biogeography.
Recent work highlights the role of Pleistocene climate shifts in fern diversification and the interplay between functional and phylogenetic diversity in plant communities. He collaborates on global phylogenetic diversity studies and Andean treeline ecology.
