Michael Kelly is a Professor of Law at the University of San Diego School of Law, where he has served since 1988. He holds a JD from the University of Michigan (1983), an MA from the University of Illinois at Chicago (1980), and a BGS from the University of Michigan (1975). His areas of expertise include Contracts and Family Law, with a focus on Remedies Law.
His scholarly work emphasizes legal theory, contract enforcement, and equitable relief, particularly in comparative and contemporary contexts. He has authored multiple editions of Principles of Remedies Law and Remedies: A Contemporary Approach, contributing to legal education and judicial analysis.
Professor Kelly clerked for the Honorable Daniel Friedman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and practiced law in Chicago before joining USD. He served as an articles and administrative editor of the Michigan Law Review.
