Marin K. Levy is the Melvin Shimm Distinguished Professor of Law at Duke University School of Law. She joined the faculty in 2009 and currently serves as Faculty Director of the Bolch Judicial Institute. Her academic focus spans judicial administration, civil procedure, federal courts, and remedies. Levy holds a J.D. from Yale Law School (2007), an M.Phil from the University of Cambridge (2004), and dual B.A. degrees from Yale College (2003).
Her research explores judicial management practices, appellate court operations, and legal reform. Notable works include Written and Unwritten: The Rules of the U.S. Courts of Appeals (2024) and Federal Standards of Review (2013). She has testified before Congress on judicial reform and co-authored influential articles in top law reviews.
Levy teaches Civil Procedure, Remedies, and Judicial Decisionmaking. Her awards include Duke's Distinguished Teaching Award (2017) and membership in the American Law Institute. She previously served as Director of Duke’s Program in Public Law and clerked for Judge José A. Cabranes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
