Michael Kazin is a Professor of History at Georgetown University, specializing in U.S. politics, social movements, and 20th/19th-century history. He previously held roles at American University and served as the John Adams Chair in American Studies at Utrecht University (Netherlands). A prolific author, his works include What It Took to Win (2022), War Against War (2017), and American Dreamers (2011). He is an emeritus co-editor of Dissent magazine and has lectured globally. Kazin has received numerous accolades, including membership in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2020) and a Guggenheim Fellowship (2004).
His research focuses on the intersection of political parties, social movements, and ideological shifts. Recent books analyze the Democratic Party’s evolution and anti-war activism. Earlier works explore labor movements, populism, and left-wing influences on U.S. society.
