Michael Hovey is a Senior Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Detroit Mercy's College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences, where he has taught for 18 years. His courses include The Study of Religion, Western Religions, and Dynamics of Spiritual Growth. Prior to retiring from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit in 2017, he served as Director of the Office for Catholic Social Teaching and Coordinator of Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations.

- M.T.S. from Weston Jesuit School of Theology
- B.A. in Peace Studies from Manhattan College
