Michael Hemann is a Professor of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), affiliated with the Koch Institute and the MIT Center for Precision Cancer Medicine. He holds memberships in the Ludwig Center at MIT and the Broad Institute. His research focuses on identifying cancer drug targets and improving personalized medicine through mechanisms of drug resistance. Hemann earned his BSc from Wesleyan University (1993) and PhD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (2001), followed by postdoctoral training at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. He has received prestigious awards including the Helen Hay Whitney Fellowship and Rita Allen Scholar designation.
Research Interests:
- Metastasis and precision medicine
- Immunotherapy and leukemia dynamics
- High-throughput screening for drug resistance mechanisms
- Combination chemotherapy strategies
Awards:
- Harold M. Weintraub Graduate Student Award
