Michael Head

Dr. Michael Head is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Southampton, based in the Clinical Informatics Research Unit within the Faculty of Medicine. He leads the 'RESIN' group, focusing on research funding trends, and directs global health initiatives. He holds adjunct/visiting roles at Ghanaian institutions, including the University of Health and Allied Sciences and the University for Development Studies. Dr. Head also serves as an Advocacy Manager in the University of Southampton's Media and Communications Directorate.

His research focuses on vulnerable populations' healthcare needs, vaccine hesitancy in West Africa, climate change impacts on health, and neglected tropical diseases like scabies. He has conducted studies on Ukrainian and Burkina Faso refugees in Ghana, digital health interventions, and misinformation modeling.

Dr. Head teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses on vaccination, precision public health, and global health research. He has supervised PhD and MSc students exploring climate change in Ghana, misinformation dynamics, and infectious disease funding trends. His media engagement includes BBC, CNN, and global print media collaborations.
