Michael Hayashi

Michael A.L. Hayashi is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. His work bridges computational epidemiology and systems science to address public health challenges, particularly focusing on disease transmission dynamics influenced by human behavior and environmental factors.

• Education: PhD (2016) and MPH (2013) in Epidemiology from the University of Michigan, BA (2011) in Political Science from the University of Rochester.

Hayashi's research integrates mathematical and computational modeling to study:

• Impact of water and sanitation interventions on respiratory disease outbreaks
• Transmission of respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases in childcare settings
• Development of computational methods for public health research
