Michael Harris is the Robert B. and Virginia V. Covalt Professor of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University's Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, with a courtesy appointment in Environmental and Ecological Engineering. He joined Purdue in 2001 and holds a B.S. from Mississippi State University (1981), an M.S. (1987), and a Ph.D. (1992) from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
His research focuses on electrodispersion processes, nanophase formation dynamics, droplet impaction/drying, environmental control technologies, and materials synthesis using biotemplates like viruses. Key techniques include high-intensity pulsed electric fields, computational modeling, and advanced characterization tools (e.g., SAXS, NMR). His work aims to engineer virus-based nanomaterials for applications in sensors, batteries, and nanocircuits.
