Michael Griffin is a Professor of Greek Philosophy at the University of British Columbia, jointly appointed in Ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern Studies (AMNE) and Philosophy. He is also a joint general editor of the Ancient Commentators translation project. His research focuses on Graeco-Roman philosophers, especially Plato and Aristotle, and their intellectual traditions in late antiquity. He explores philosophical education (paideia) and cross-cultural dialogues, such as Buddhist-Platonist philosophy. Griffin earned his B.A. from UBC (2004), M.Phil. and D.Phil. from Oxford (2006, 2009), and has been at UBC since 2010. His work includes books on Aristotle's Categories and Olympiodorus' commentaries, and he actively engages in teaching innovation and community learning initiatives.
