Michael Goetjen is a Lecturer in the Music Department at MIT, specializing in musicology. He focuses on eighteenth-century opera and the music of Mozart, particularly the concert aria's role in operatic culture outside the theater.
- PhD and MA in Musicology from Rutgers University
- Bachelor’s in Music with a secondary major in History from The College of William and Mary
As a harpsichordist and organist, he bridges academic and performance environments. He currently performs with the early music ensemble A Joyful Noyse in Lexington, MA, and works as a freelance organist in the Greater Boston Area.
Goetjen serves as Website Editor and Board of Directors member of the Mozart Society of America, contributing to scholarly outreach and digital resources.
