Michael Gavin is an Associate Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of South Carolina's College of Arts and Sciences. He is also the Peter and Bonnie McCausland Faculty Fellow and a College of Arts and Sciences Innovative Teaching Associate (2020–2022). His work bridges literature, intellectual history, and digital humanities.

His research explores the intersection of technology, communication, and literary history. Current projects examine how digital writing and computational analysis enable new approaches to language and historical interpretation, with a focus on:
