He holds a PhD in English from Pennsylvania State University (2018), an MA in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2011), and a BA in English & History from the University of Michigan (2008). His research focuses on transnationalism in early modern English literature, challenging the 'elect island nation' archetype through analyses of works by Shakespeare, Spenser, Greville, and Milton. His current book project, The Island Nation and Its Discontents, explores how transnational and participatory models of nationhood reshaped literary constructions of 'England.'
His publications include articles in Shakespeare Quarterly, Sidney Journal, and Studies in Philology. He has received awards such as the Big 10 Emerging Scholar Lecturer (2018), Raymond Lombra Award (2017), and multiple Hume Awards (2016–2017) for graduate research and publication.
Teaching awards include the Best English TA (2015) and Honored Instructor Award (2015) from UW-Madison. He teaches courses on Shakespeare, early modern literature, advanced business writing, and science fiction.
