Michael G. Muszynski is an Associate Professor in the Department of Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences (TPSS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of plant development using maize as a model system, integrating genetic, genomic, molecular, and bioinformatic approaches. He teaches courses such as Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics of Crops, and Plant Growth and Development.
- Education: Ph.D. in Genetics from Iowa State University, B.A. in Biology from the University of Toledo
His research spans multi-scale studies from protein structure-function analysis to hormonal pathway interactions in plant organ growth. He leads the Plant Growth and Development Research Lab and advises the ISU Undergraduate Genetics Club (2014–2015).
