Professor Michael Friedrich is a renowned scholar in Sinology and manuscript studies at the University of Hamburg. He served as Spokesperson for the Cluster of Excellence ‘Understanding Written Artefacts’ (2019–2025) and previously led the SFB 950 ‘Manuscript Cultures’ (2011–2019). His research focuses on ancient written artifacts, cross-cultural manuscript analysis, and digital preservation of cultural heritage.
