Michael Francis Duch is a Professor of Double Bass, Jazz, and Experimental Music at the Department of Music, NTNU. He has served as Deputy Head of Research and led initiatives like NTNU Artistic Research Week. Active in the Faculty of Humanities, he contributes to committees on artistic research implementation and national musicology initiatives. His research focuses on experimental music traditions, free improvisation, and collaborations with composers like Lene Grenager and Michael Pisaro-Liu. A prolific performer, he collaborates with ensembles like LEMUR and AMOR, touring internationally.
