Matthew L. Turner is an Instructor at the Conservatory of Music, Lawrence University. A globally recognized improvising cellist and pianist, he performs across diverse genres including jazz, avant-garde, and country, collaborating with artists like Natalie MacMaster, Bobby McFerrin, and avant-garde musicians. He leads recordings on multiple labels and is a Yamaha Performing Artist.

- M.M. in Third Stream Studies (now Contemporary Improvisation), New England Conservatory of Music
Research & Performance Interests: Turner specializes in improvisation, cross-genre collaboration, and contemporary music. His work spans classical, jazz, and experimental music, blending traditions through performances with ensembles like Bill Carrothers' Armistice 1918 and the Fantastic Merlins. He has over 100 recordings across labels such as Illusions, Stellar, and Meniscus Records.
