Michael Dixon serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Angelo State University and holds the specialized role of Curator for the Collection of Reptiles and Amphibians within the Angelo State Natural History Collections.
His research focuses on herpetology, evolutionary biology, and ecological conservation, with particular emphasis on reptile and amphibian systematics and biodiversity. This work integrates field studies with museum-based collection management to advance understanding of vertebrate evolution and habitat preservation.
As curator of the Angelo State Natural History Collections' herpetology section, he oversees specimen acquisition, preservation, and research access while supporting academic programs through the university's greenhouse and natural history resources. His position bridges academic instruction with practical conservation science within the Department of Biology's research infrastructure.
