Dr. Michael Devine is a Professor in the Department of Theatre at Acadia University. He is a multidisciplinary theatre practitioner, serving as a director, playwright, actor, dramaturg, and essayist. As founder/director of the Centre for Alternative Theatre Training (CATT), he pioneered the BoxWhatBox methodology, showcased at 9 international theatre festivals across 23 countries and 5 continents.
Research Interests: His work focuses on innovative performance training, cross-cultural theatre creation, and actor well-being. He has directed productions in Canada, Central/Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, operating in 9 languages.
Teaching: Michael teaches courses such as Theatrical Unrest, Performance 1-6, and Dramaturgy, reflecting his expertise in theatre history, playwriting, and dramatic literature.
