University of Illinois Urbana-Champaignمعرفی
Michael David Kaminski is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Nuclear, Plasma, and Radiological Engineering Department. He holds concurrent roles at Argonne National Laboratory, including Principal Materials Engineer and Acting Lead for Sensor Initiatives. His research spans nuclear forensics, nano-scale engineering, and advanced materials for CBRN agent separation and decontamination.
Education:
- Ph.D., Nuclear Engineering/Geochemistry (University of Illinois, 1998)
- M.S., Nuclear Engineering/Radioactive Waste Management (1996)
- B.S., Nuclear Engineering, Cum Laude (1994)
Research Interests: Focuses on uncertainty analysis in nuclear measurements, miniaturized sensor systems, functionalized nano-surfaces, and chemical decontamination methods. His work addresses nuclear fuel cycles, waste forms, and responses to weapons of mass destruction.
Awards: Includes the Pinnacle of Education Award (2014), Hispanic Power Hitters in Technology (2005), and multiple scholarships/awards from 1993 onward.
Grants & Labs: Leads Argonne’s Nuclear Forensics and Nanoscale Engineering groups. His teams develop magnetic-based separations and sensor systems for defense and medical applications. Collaborates on projects like targeted drug delivery using magnetic nanoparticles.
