Michael Crowder is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of History at Texas State University. He holds a Ph.D. from the Graduate Center, CUNY (2019), an M.A. from Hunter College, and a B.A. from Texas State University. Previously, he served as a Public Historian and Lecturer at Iona University.
His research focuses on the American Revolutionary Era and Early Republic, with emphasis on political thought, social history, slavery-capitalism relationships, and intersections of Digital Humanities and Public History. He is currently writing a biography of Thomas Paine's revolutionary activities.
His most recent publication (2024) applies text attribution methods to analyze a historical letter to Thomas Jefferson.
