Michael Craig Victor Kryluk is a Research Fellow at the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas, University of Oslo. His research focuses on Kant’s moral and political philosophy, particularly Kant’s relationship with Rousseau and conceptions of history/anthropology. He holds a PhD from Stony Brook University (2022), MA from University of Toronto (2013), and BA from University of Toronto (2011).
Teaching experience includes courses on history of philosophy, ethics, and political philosophy at US institutions. Active in the The Kantian Foundations of Democracy (KanDem) project and affiliated with the Practical Philosophy Group. Key publications include translations of Ludwig Feuerbach’s works and analyses of Kantian transcendental arguments.
Research emphasizes critical engagement with Kantian ethics, German Idealism, and the intersection of philosophy with historical context. His 2017 work on Kant’s 'Fact of Reason' challenges traditional interpretations of transcendental argumentation, while 2019 Feuerbach translations contextualize 19th-century critiques of religion.
