Michael C. Strayer

Michael C. Strayer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science at Hampden-Sydney College. His research bridges combinatorics and algebra, with a focus on Lie representation theory and partially ordered sets.

• Education: B.A. in Mathematics from Malone University (2010), M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Akron (2013), and Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill (2019).

Dr. Strayer’s research explores the interplay between algebraic structures and combinatorial patterns, particularly in minuscule representations of Kac-Moody algebras and Γ-colored posets. His work often involves recursive algorithms, Catalan numbers, and applications of Hasse diagrams.
