Michael Borshuk is an Associate Professor of African American Literature at Texas Tech University, where he has taught since 2004. He also serves as Director of the Humanities Center, contributing to academic leadership while maintaining an active research profile.

His research explores intersections of jazz, African American literature, and American modernism, with a particular emphasis on performance studies and cultural critique. Recent publications span edited collections, journal articles, and a special issue on Steely Dan for Rock Music Studies.
Borshuk's scholarly output includes analyses of Langston Hughes, Josephine Baker, and August Wilson, alongside investigations into the Harlem Renaissance, blues aesthetics, and public feminist scholarship. His work has been recognized with the President's Book Award and Integrated Scholar Award.
