Michael Bloomfield is a Reader in International Development at the University of Bath, where he co-directs the Centre for Development Studies. He also holds affiliations as a Research Associate at the Oxford Department of International Development and Senior Research Fellow at the Earth System Governance Project.
His research focuses on global environmental and health governance, particularly examining business power and the politics of global supply chains. He explores how corporations influence policy-making in areas like tobacco control, gold mining, and modern slavery, with a strong emphasis on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
