معرفی
Michael Birse is a Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Manchester, affiliated with the Theoretical Physics Group. His research focuses on the intersection of particle and nuclear physics, particularly the role of QCD symmetries in nucleon and meson interactions. He has held editorial roles for journals like Journal of Physics G and contributed to European nuclear physics planning. Birse has supervised 9 PhD students and 3 MSc students, with notable advisees including Tom Barford, Nick Petropoulos, and Keith Richardson. His work employs techniques like chiral perturbation theory and renormalisation group analysis.
Education: PhD in Physics from the University of Surrey (1981), BA in Physics from the University of Oxford (1978).
Awards: SERC Advanced Fellowship (1992–1997).
Research Highlights: Explores chiral symmetry, quark-gluon plasma dynamics, and nuclear matter transitions. Recent projects include studies on Bose gases and effective field theories for few-nucleon systems.
