Michael Binder

Professor Michael Binder, Ph.D. holds the Chair for International Macroeconomics and Empirical Economic Research at Goethe University Frankfurt's Faculty of Economics and Business, located at the House of Finance on Campus Westend. He serves as founding dean of the Graduate School of Economics, Finance and Management (GSEFM), a collaborative doctoral program involving Goethe University Frankfurt, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and Technical University Darmstadt.

His research focuses on:

• Globalization effects on production growth and income inequality
• Macroeconomic modeling and policy design in emerging markets
• Computational methods for structural macroeconomic models
• Advanced econometric techniques for dynamic panel data analysis

Professor Binder actively contributes to the Macroeconomic Model Comparison Initiative (MMCI) and the Macroeconomic Model Database (MMB), demonstrating his commitment to advancing methodological approaches in macroeconomic research. His work bridges theoretical modeling with empirical applications, particularly in international economic contexts.

He currently chairs the selection committee for the 'Young Innovators Award' of the 'Vordenker Forum,' highlighting his dedication to nurturing emerging talent in economics and finance. His teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses such as Macroeconomics 1, Solution and Estimation of DSGE Models, and Advanced Econometrics, reflecting his expertise across both theoretical and applied economics.

Professor Binder maintains regular office hours through late 2025 and oversees a research team of doctoral candidates working on various aspects of international macroeconomics and econometric methodology.
