Michael Berthaume

Dr Michael Berthaume is a Research Associate in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London, focusing on the intersection of anthropology and engineering (anthroengineering). His current work applies anthroengineering to design culturally relevant, sustainable biomedical devices, particularly external fixators and prosthetics, for low-to-middle-income countries like Sri Lanka. He collaborates with teams in Jaffna to address injuries from the Sri Lankan civil war and supports local manufacturing of orthopaedic solutions.
