Michael Bernard

Michael Bernard is a Continuing Lecturer in the Theater Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and Santa Barbara City College (SBCC). He has held roles with LitMoon Theater Company, performing in international productions of The Tempest, The Cherry Orchard, and Julius Caesar across locations like Albania, Georgia, and Armenia. His recent roles include Sorn in Stupid F-ing Bird and Richard Nixon in Nixon's Nixon with Elements Theater Collective. Bernard holds a BFA in Acting from Boston University and an MA in Educational Theater from New York University.

His research focuses on improvisational theater pedagogy, reflected in courses like Theater Games Ensemble and Advanced Acting. He teaches at UCSB, SBCC, the Young Playwrights Festival ETC, and the Creative Arts Workshop. Active in LA's Immediate Theater improv company, he bridges professional performance with educational initiatives.
