Professor Michael Bentley is a Senior Research Fellow at St Hugh's College, University of Oxford, specializing in historiography, historical theory, and political thought. His email contact is michael.bentley@history.ox.ac.uk.
Over the past thirty years, Bentley has focused on historiography as a theoretical framework, examining its evolution across time and space. He edited the Companion to Historiography (1997) and is currently developing a comparative study of Western historiography since the Enlightenment, set to be published by Princeton University Press. His work challenges the boundaries between historiographical study and intellectual history, emphasizing shared domains and interdisciplinary questions.
