Michael Assfalg is a Full Professor at the Department of Biotechnology, University of Verona. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Florence and has conducted research at the University of Maryland and Frankfurt. His teaching includes courses on Organic Chemistry and Supramolecular Chemistry of Biological Systems.
His research focuses on applying NMR spectroscopy to study biomolecular recognition, biomacromolecule dynamics, and nano-bio interfaces. Key projects involve tau protein aggregation mechanisms, ubiquitination effects, and nanoparticle-protein interactions. He has led initiatives in metabolic profiling and drug discovery using NMR-based methods.
He serves on academic committees such as the Faculty Board of PhD in Biotechnology and chairs the Biotechnology Teaching Committee. His work has resulted in spin-off companies like Microbion S.r.l. and EDIVITE S.r.l., reflecting his contributions to translational research.
