Prof. Michał Wasilczuk is a full Professor and Head of the Department of Machine Design and Automotive Engineering at Gdańsk University of Technology's Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology. He holds academic positions including Vice-Dean for Research and Rector’s Proxy. His career spans roles from assistant (1986–1995) to associate professor (1995–2008), culminating in his professorship since 2017.
Education: Gdańsk University of Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (PhD 1994, habilitation 2004). Research interests focus on tribology, bearing systems, ecological lubricants, and renewable energy systems like wind/water turbines. He has served on national and international advisory boards, including the Polish Tribology Society and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education's Expert Committee for Industrial PhD Programs.
Key achievements include over 80 publications, awards such as the Silver Cross of Merit (2000), and leadership in interdisciplinary projects merging mechanical engineering with medical applications. His teaching spans machine design, tribology, and medical engineering, with active involvement in doctoral supervision and international academic collaborations.
Awards and recognitions highlight his contributions to engineering education and research, including the Best Poster Award at the EdF-PPrime Workshop (2015). His work integrates computational modeling with experimental validation, addressing challenges in large-scale bearing systems and sustainable energy solutions.
