Micah Goodrich is an Assistant Professor of English at Boston University, with affiliations in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Global Medieval Studies. Their research focuses on medieval literature’s engagement with gender, embodiment, and nature, particularly through trans and queer frameworks. They hold a PhD from the University of Connecticut (2020), alongside a BA and MA from Bridgewater State University and the University of Connecticut.
Research interests include medieval and early modern literature, trans studies, literary theory, body history, alchemy, Chaucer, and Langland. Notable works include the book manuscript Mercurial Natures: Trans Hermeneutics and Chaucerian Bodytexts and co-editing A Cultural History of Trans Lives, 300-1450. They’ve published in Diacritics, Medieval Ecocriticisms, and Studies in the Age of Chaucer.
Teaching emphasizes alternative media and DIY methodologies, prioritizing student creativity and accessibility. Awards include the 2020 Catherine Innes-Parker Memorial Prize. They serve on the editorial board of postmedieval and are actively involved in trans and queer scholarly networks. Current projects include monographs on Chaucerian bodytexts and contributions to Oxford Handbooks on disability and gender studies.
