Mia Aitchison is a Lecturer in Animal Science at Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), with affiliations at Barony Campus (DG1 3NE Dumfries) and Ayr Campus (KA08 0SX Ayr). She joined SRUC in 2013 while completing her PhD at the University of Aberdeen, focusing on energy efficiency and nutrient partitioning in broiler chickens. Her teaching spans disciplines from Chemistry to MSc Statistics, with core expertise in statistics, physiology, and nutrition.
Education: PhD in Energy Efficiency and Nutrient Partitioning in the Modern Broiler Chicken (University of Aberdeen, 2009–2014). She played a key role in developing SRUC’s BSc(Hons) in Sustainable Food Production and Land Management. Additionally, she serves as the EIS Union Representative on the Non-Executive Board and Secretary for the S&W region.
