Mi-Kyung Song, PhD, RN, FAAN, is a Professor in the Office of Academic Advancement and Director of the Center for Nursing Excellence in Palliative Care at Emory University's Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. She holds the Edith F. Honeycutt Chair in Nursing. Her roles include leadership in palliative care research and education, alongside membership in the Winship Cancer Institute's Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program. Previously, she served on faculties at the University of Pittsburgh and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Education: PhD in Nursing (University of Wisconsin-Madison) with a focus on end-of-life care and biostatistics minor. Expertise spans palliative care, end-of-life communication, clinical trials, and intervention development. She teaches nursing ethics and theoretical frameworks for intervention design.
Research focuses on improving palliative care for chronically ill patients and families, emphasizing decision-making, communication, and bioethics. Methodological strengths include mixed methods and clinical trial design. Over 90 peer-reviewed publications highlight her contributions to dialysis care, surrogate decision-making, and oncology survivorship.
