Meysam Sarsharjeryandeh

Meysam Sarsharjeryandeh is an Associate Professor of Clinical Microbiology at Link Campus International University of Rome. His academic journey includes a PhD (2014-2018) and post-doctoral fellowship (2018-2020) in Infectious Diseases, Microbiology, and Public Health from Sapienza University of Rome. He holds an Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN 2018/2020) as an Associate Professor in Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology (06/A3 SSD MED/07).

Research Focus: His work centers on antimicrobial strategies, host-pathogen interactions, and the antibiotic resistome. Key areas include microbial metabolites' roles in human-microbe communication, virulence factors in Shigella flexneri, and adhesion inhibitors against uropathogenic Escherichia coli. He also develops organoid models for studying intestinal and pulmonary infections.

Collaborations & Roles: He chairs research projects at Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital (Rome) and collaborates internationally with institutions like the Medical University of Innsbruck and Université du Québec à Montréal. He serves on the Scientific Boards of COST Actions CA21145 and CA20110, and editorial roles at BMC Microbiology and Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Infectious Diseases.

Awards: Lead investigator of the Italian Ministry of Health’s Starting Grant (2020-2023).
