Mette Christoffersen serves as Associate Professor at the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Section of Large Animal Medicine, Surgery and Reproduction within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. Her research program centers on equine reproductive disorders with particular emphasis on mare infertility mechanisms involving immunological and inflammatory pathways.
Primary research domains include:
- Infertility in horses
- Infectious endometritis pathogenesis
- Reproductive immunology and inflammation
- Endometrial fibrosis progression
- Diagnostic and prognostic biomarker development
Analysis of her 2023-2024 publications reveals concentrated efforts in advancing diagnostic methodologies for endometritis through proteomic mapping, identifying risk factors for reproductive failure, and validating novel biomarkers for fibrosis. This work consistently integrates clinical observations with laboratory investigations across international collaborations.
Christoffersen actively supervises veterinary education through lectures, clinical practicals, and postgraduate courses, having mentored over 50 bachelor/master students and completed three PhD supervisions (principal supervisor for one project). Her professional network includes key collaborators at the University of Kentucky, University of Lisbon, and Technical University of Denmark, with extensive peer review activities for major veterinary journals including Reproduction in Domestic Animals and Journal of Veterinary Science.
