Prof. Dr. Metin Sitti, a leading figure in robotics and intelligent systems, currently serves as President of Koç University since fall 2023. Previously, he directed the Physical Intelligence department at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (2014–2023) and was a tenured professor at Carnegie Mellon University (2002–2014). From 2018 to 2023, he held a part-time professorship at Koç University's School of Medicine and College of Engineering.
- Education: BSc (1992) and MSc (1994) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Boğaziçi University; PhD (1999) in Electrical Engineering from Tokyo University.
His research spans small-scale robotics, bioinspired adhesives, and intelligent systems, emphasizing applications in human health, nature-inspired materials, and distributed cooperative robotics. Key projects include the Robotic Kinematic System for Parallel Construction (RP 19-1) and Co-Design for Distributed Cooperative Multi-Robot Systems (RP 19-2).
