Prof. Dr. Metin Kopar is a full professor in the Department of History at Adıyaman University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He earned his MA in General Turkish History (1997) and PhD in History of the Republic of Türkiye (2001) from Fırat University, achieving professorship in 2024. His administrative roles include serving as Vice Dean (2013-2017) and multiple terms as Department Head.
Dr. Kopar's research investigates Turkish economic and social history across Ottoman and Republican periods, with emphases on public finance, health policy, regional development, and demographic studies. Key research domains include:
- Historical economic policies and public investments
- Epidemic management and health systems
- Regional development in Eastern Anatolia
- Turkish-American diplomatic relations
His publications demonstrate consistent focus on economic transitions, social transformations during crises, and regional histories of Anatolia, with emerging work on ethnic conflicts and demographic studies. Research outputs exhibit methodological diversity combining archival analysis, policy evaluation, and media studies.
Significant recognition includes the 2016 Science Encouragement Award from the Economic Development and Social Research Association.
Dr. Kopar has supervised 7 graduate theses (4 MA, 3 PhD) addressing topics from pandemic impacts to constitutional systems. He leads research projects including "18th Century Bandit Movements in Hısn-ı Mansur" and manages the university's Social Sciences Institute journal. His pedagogical work covers Republican history, economic history, and research methodology courses.
