Metin I. Eren

Dr. Metin I. Eren is Assistant Professor and Director of Archaeology at Kent State University. He studies Paleolithic tool evolution through experimental and comparative methods.

Research Interests: Investigates stone tool function, technological innovation, and hominin adaptability. Fieldwork spans North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, including Olduvai Gorge.

Publications: Experimental analyses of Clovis weaponry, heat treatment effects, and knapping efficiency. Recent work includes forensic applications of lithic analysis.

Laboratory: Founded the Experimental Archaeology Lab at Kent State, focusing on tool replication and taphonomy studies.

Funding: Secured grants from NSF, Royal Society, and European Research Council for global archaeological projects.
