Mesut Kırca is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. He specializes in nanomaterials research with a focus on molecular dynamics simulations of carbon-based nanostructures like carbon nanotubes, graphene, and boron nitride nanotubes. His work explores mechanical properties, thermal conductivity, and failure mechanisms of advanced composite materials.

He has led 3 major projects including investigations into hydrogen storage in graphene networks and acoustic properties of nano-porous materials. His recent work (2023-2025) includes studies on reinforced fuselage panels and mechanical behavior of antimonene nanotubes.
