Meryem Demircan Poyraz is affiliated with the Physiology Department at Trakya University's Faculty of Health Sciences. She holds a Master's degree (2005) and a Doctoral degree (2016). Her research focuses on renal pathophysiology, pharmacological interventions in kidney injuries, and growth factor effects in animal models. She has conducted studies on Erdosteine, Tarantula cubensis extracts, and lycopene's role in renal ischemia/reperfusion injury.
- Education: Master's (2005), PhD (2016)
Her research interests include experimental models of kidney diseases, antioxidant therapies, and molecular mechanisms of renal protection. Recent work emphasizes the efficacy of natural extracts and synthetic compounds in mitigating acute kidney injury.
Her articles explore topics like Erdosteine's nephroprotective effects, Tarantula extracts' impact on renal ischemia, and IGF-1's influence on muscle physiology in rats. These studies contribute to understanding therapeutic strategies for renal and muscular disorders.
- Awards: 2015 FEPS Poster Awards for kidney injury research
Active in grant-funded projects, including a 2013-2016 initiative investigating lycopene's role in renal ischemia. Collaborates on multidisciplinary teams addressing physiological and pharmacological challenges in experimental medicine.
Labs/Teams: Involved in renal pathophysiology research groups at Trakya University, focusing on translational studies between basic science and clinical applications.
