معرفی
Merrin Macrae is a Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the University of Waterloo. Her research focuses on hydroclimatology, biogeochemical cycling, and nutrient dynamics in agricultural systems and wetland ecosystems. She holds a B.E.S. and M.Sc. from York University, and a Ph.D. from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Her research explores phosphorus mobilization in cold regions, emphasizing winter processes, climate variability, and land management practices. She teaches courses like Environmental Hydrology (GEOG 407) and Applied Biogeochemistry (GEOG 654), integrating field, lab, and modeling approaches to address water quality challenges.
Recent publications highlight her work on phosphorus losses in tile drainage, peatland nutrient dynamics, and climate change impacts. Collaborations with farmers, governments, and agencies aim to develop region-specific conservation practices. She actively supervises graduate students in funded projects investigating phosphorus cycling and mitigation strategies.
