Merlin Schaeffer

Prof. Merlin Schaeffer is a Professor and Head of Studies in the Department of Sociology at the University of Copenhagen, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences. His research focuses on migration, ethno-racial discrimination, and social cohesion, employing quantitative methods. Previously, he held roles at the University of Cologne, Karslruhe Institute of Technology, and WZB Berlin Social Science Center.

Notable projects include the DFG-funded Association between Perceived and Actual Xenophobia (APAX) (2020–2024) and Residential Mobility and Well-Being (WELLMOB) (2019–2022). His publications address topics like vaccination prioritization during crises and the impact of neighborhood infrastructures on immigrant well-being.

He collaborates with institutions like the WZB and holds grants from the DFG. His research bridges theoretical insights and policy-relevant findings, emphasizing evidence-based awareness raising and integration strategies.
